Ever-Changing Reflection

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding... It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self. Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility.

Grateful Day 8: H

I am ever so grateful for my health.

Health is something many of us take for granted until we lose it. It's one of those you-don't-know-what-you-have-until-it's-gone things. Unfortunately I am reminded how very precious health is quite a bit. My dad hasn't had really good health for years. Grandparents get sick and never recover. Family and friends battle with cancer. I suppose the silver lining to this dark cloud is that I become grateful for my health.

Still, I think I take it for granted, and I renew my vow every day to live healthier -- that's all we can do when we fail right? I try to eat well. I try to exercise. I try to meditate and relax for a healthy mind and soul.

This week, I have a get-back-to-exercise plan. It is free class week at the Yoga and pilates studio where I took Zumba over the summer, and I am going to take advantage of it. Monday through Thursday, I selected a class that interested me, and I'm going to try my best to go. I'll be taking Zumba Monday and Thursday, beginner pilates mat on Tuesday, and Yoga on Wednesday. After this week, I'm looking to get back into regular Yoga and long walks with Morris.

As far as eating, I'm going to use an online tool to plan out meals for the week and help create my grocery shopping list. Should be interesting.

And, I'm devoted to fostering healthier relationships and a healthier soul.

Do you take your health for granted? What are you doing to protect it?
